Abstract
In the winter term 2017/18 the University of Education Karlsruhe, Germany, decided to open a so-called writing clinic in order to react to the challenges that German students of English have, while writing in academic English. During regular office hours, two writing advisors support students engaged in the process of drafting and writing their academic papers. The aim of this talk is to provide first insights into how students used the writing clinic, based on the data collected during the first months of the clinic. Apart from quantitative data, the talk will also draw on qualitative interview data providing insights into the students’ goals and strategies in academic writing processes.
