Short paper (30 minutes)
Michael Stockwell (Sugiyama Jogakuen University)
This presentation discusses the development of a project to build a community of learners within a three-year language program. The project participants are dedicated to improving their university community through active involvement in various voluntary projects. The objective of these student-led projects is to create authentic tasks to help learners' language development, agency, and gain practical life skills. This presentation also focuses on some projects that other universities could adopt such as the management of academic conferences and support for theatrical performances. An analysis of focus group interviews on the benefits of participating in Green Team events will be included.
