This poster addresses self-access needs in a new building at a Japanese university, as well as actions taken by learning advisors and others to curate, develop, and promote resources that are helpful for meeting learner needs. These actions draw from various models in self-access literature. In addition to the traditional focus on physical and digital materials, this poster attends to both physical environments and people as resources for learning, especially as social resources. Development of the physical environment is informed by models from Edlin (2016) and Murray (2014), with the goal of supporting and facilitating the creation of learning communities.
